Summary0000821: Audio drop after channel change - Optical connection
DescriptionWe have checked audio with external speaker/soundbar whtich that connected TV via optical cable.
The connection is as follows :
        Our STB connect to TV with HDMI.
        And Sound bar is connected to TV with optical cable.
        And we set audio output option of TV to optical cable.
We have audio drop in certain channel.
I think it may TV issue, but I also check with KAON STB(BKO-AT800) and I couldn't check any audio drop issue.
So please check it.

Test SW version : v17.513.5(AOSP), v15.513.10(ATV)
TV : LG(OLED55B8GNA), Samsung(QN55Q8CNAFXKR)
Speaker : Kaon(BKO-UA500), LG(SK1)
Issue : audio drop in Live TV specific channel for 1 sec. after channel change
Issue reproduction step :
            Step 1 : Boot -> exit Home UI -> Go to channel No. 1 -> Channel Up(CH 2)
            Step 2 : Channel Up(CH 3) & wait for 10 sec. and hear the audio
            Step 3 : Channel Down(CH 2) & wait for 10 sec. and hear the audio
            Step 4 : Go to Step 2.

I captured log and attached it.
Test Sceanrio is
                        11:22 Exit from Home menu. Live TV channel No is 1. I heard no audio twice.
                        11:23 CH UP and check audio. There is no issue in CH No. 2
                        11:24 I've heare no audio after CH UP(CH No. 3)
                        11:25 CH UP and check audio. There is no issue in CH No. 4
                        11:25 CH Down and check audio. There is issue in CH No. 3
                        11:26 CH UP and check audio. There is no issue in CH No. 4
                        11:26 CH Down(Time in log file was 11:26:49) and check audio. There is issue in CH No. 3
                        11:27 CH UP(Time in log file was 11:26:59) and check audio. There is no issue in CH No. 4
So I heard no audio issue 11:26:49 ~ 11:26:59. So if you review the log, then you can check some clue in there.

I also asked to review this issue to Mr. Jingyu Xu of AML. But we don't have any feedback from him.
So could you check the log with Amlogic engineer ?

Hi Mr. YOON,

1. Which mode is set for audio setting on STB? 'BTV' or 'passthrough'..
 
2. Is audio drop issue gone if there is no connection to speakers via optical ?

Hi Kerwin,
I tested both mode again.
In case of Btv mode, it happened almost all TV channels except Home shopping channel.
But in case of Pass-thru mode, it happened only CH #3.

Is there any comment on log file ?

I am not familiar with Player related parts so I am asking help from AML.

Could you let us know the channel number of shopping channel ?

BTW, this issue happen only when TV output audio to speaker via optical.
There is no issue if audio is output directly from TV, right ?

I tested according to your guide.
1. In case of Btv Mode
    Initial channel No. is 1.
    14:18:42.221 CHANNEL_UP (CH #2)
                            No issue.
    14:19:02.628 CHANNEL_UP (CH #3)
                            No Audio issue happened.
    14:19:21.469 CHANNEL_UP (CH #4)
                            No issue.
    14:19:31.672 CHANNEL_UP (CH #5)
                            No Audio issue happened.

2. In case of Pass-Thru Mode
    14:20:55 Go to CH #1.
    14:21:21.956 CHANNEL_UP (CH #2)
                            No issue.
    14:21:33.758 CHANNEL_UP (CH #3)
                            No Audio issue happened.
    14:22:04.374 CHANNEL_UP (CH #4)
                            No issue.
    14:22:32.222 CHANNEL_UP (CH #5)
                            No Audio issue happened.

Hi Kerwin,

I attached video clip for this issue.
I change channel from CH 2 to CH 3 at 0:00:10.
And then you can see no audio issue at 0:00:18 ~ 19.
It set audio mode to "Btv".

I toss some debugging point for audio issue. from AML PM(Jingyu)
please get those info when dolby channel playback
1. top and check audio server process id --> see an attached picture.
2. debuggerd - b process ID --> execute 3 times and send result

if audio server have two PID, please use PID for android.hardware.audio@2.0-service.

Hi My. Yoon, Jason,

Here is updated status of this issue.
AML've found there is problem in AV sync module which results in audio drop issue.
Since AV sync is very important for user experience, It will need more time to debug.
We hope to have solution in this week.

Please try new libraries on this issue.
#mount -o remount,rw /vendor
#mount -o rw,remount /
swap audio.primary.amlogic.so and libliveplaeyr.so on box with attachment.
 
#setprop media.liveplayer.enable-audio-resample 1
channel change test, please feedback if the issue is better or worse. (The issue cannot be solved 100% so far)
also please check if avsync is OK, the issue caused on avsync module, the change could effect avsync performance.
 
PS. Known issue: video will start moving first and audio output. Please ignore it first.
